Learn how to snowshoe from the Tahoe Adventure Company. Book one of their guided tours. Choose from the sunset snowshoe tour, full moon tour, star gazing tour, or daytime tour through Lake Tahoe’s surrounding mountains. 

They’ll teach you the skills and techniques of snowshoeing, plus the history of the land.  

The tours offered are suitable for beginners without experience and adequate snowshoers. 

Spend the morning and afternoon snowshoeing through the Sierra Nevada Mountains while learning about the area's natural and human history. On this tour, you’ll experience beautiful views that overlook Lake Tahoe. The Snowshoeing Lake Tahoe’s Mountains tour is 2 to 5 miles and goes from 10 am to 1 pm. It costs $90 per person. Hot drinks and snacks are included.

The Sunset Snowshoe Adventure lets visitors watch the color-changing sky as they journey through the forest with an expert guide. This tour covers 2 to 4 miles, and the time depends on when the sunset is during the season. This is $85 per person.

The Tahoe Adventure Company also offers Full Moon and Star Gazing Snowshoe Tours. On the Full Moon Tour, visitors will venture into the Sierra Nevada Mountains under the moonlight. This tour is about 2 to 3 miles long. It costs $85 per person. This tour only occurs on certain days, so check the schedule here.

The Snowshoe Star Tour takes off at sunset and leads to a lookout where astronomer Tony Berendsen will give you a lesson on the night sky. You’ll be able to look through telescopes and learn about the constellations. There are only 2 dates left for the season for this tour; February 20 and March 4. This is a 1 to 3 mile trip. Book this tour for $95 per person.  

All tours include a short lesson before taking off as well as snowshoes and poles.
