Take A Trip To The Old Wild West

Take a day trip to go back in time to the old wild west! Take a 90-minute bus ride from South Lake Tahoe to the mining town of Virginia City, Nevada. On the way, you’ll pass through Nevada’s capital, Carson City. You’ll also see a portion of the Pony Express!

When you arrive in Virginia City the tour will kick off with a train ride on the Virginia & Truckee Railroad where you’ll learn about its history and mining as it goes to Gold Hill and back. Then, you’ll have 2.5 hours to explore the rest of the town on your own. Explore the shops on Main Street, have lunch at one of the saloons, check out the opera house, The Way It Was Museum, and the Mark Twain Museum. 

Once time is up you’ll ride the bus back to Tahoe. 

The shuttle bus offers pickup and drop-off from select hotels. The tour begins in the morning (pickup times vary) and lasts about 7 hours. The trip costs $85 per person. The next round of tours starts running in June and continues through October.
