Take part in Tahoe outdoor yoga classes for free! Erica Hartnick, a local yoga instructor is hosting free one-hour yoga sessions on Wednesday mornings at Kiva Beach through July and August. Class starts at 8 am, and anyone is welcome to join in.

Start your morning with this relaxing activity. This is the perfect opportunity to give yoga a try or a great way to continue if you already love it. These classes are free, so there’s nothing to lose.

It’s recommended that participants bring a towel, a blanket, or a yoga mat since the class takes place on the sand. Everyone is welcome to join the class regardless of skill level. All you have to do is show up!

These classes have become a summertime tradition among locals. This routine started a little over 10 years ago and has gained quite a following!

After class, there is also an optional beach cleanup. Some people even like to go for a swim in the lake afterward.

Here are directions to the beach from the instructor herself:

This part of Kiva Beach is also referred to as the “dog beach.” When searching on your phone’s map, type in “Tallac Point” to get to the parking area. From South Lake Tahoe, take 89 North from the Y, about a 1/2 mile past Camp Richardson, take a right on Heritage Way (the sign says Historic Tallac Site), at the fork stay left on Tallac Rd. (the sign says Tallac Point/Lake Access) towards Kiva Beach. Park in the main lot, and take the main trail near the big dumpster to the beach. Once you arrive at the beach, stay left and walk west out to the flat sandy area where Taylor Creek flows into the lake.

If you have further questions or concerns, visit the instructor’s website.
